Registration

Online registration will be available starting in early 2025.

Walk-in registrations are welcome anytime during the week of NSP at the full adult price.  A printable 8-page information packet  with detailed information about how to get to NSP, what to expect when you arrive, where to stay, where to eat, etc. will be mailed out after you register and will soon be available for download.

You can register onsite for the Star Party at Boardman’s Camp Ground on:

  1. Sunday    July 20 4:00 – 6:30 pm  Central Daylight Time

  2. Monday  July 21     5:00 – 6:30 pm  Central Daylight Time

  3. Tuesday  July 22     5:00 – 6:30 pm  Central Daylight Time

    Wednesday Walk-In Registration will be at the Valentine High School  from 10:00 am – Noon.

Look for road signs indicating the Registration location along Highway 97 on the south end of the Merritt Reservoir. Also to bring a check or cash as we do not have credit card transfer access there. You can also register for the Star Party from 10:00 to Noon at the Valentine High School building on Wednesday  July 23.

Pre-Registration Form Instructions
Fill in the requested information for the name of the registrant and the names of the other persons in the party, along with contact information.  Cost of NSP attendance is just $60 per adult if the form is returned postmarked by June 15.  Cost for children age 12 and under is $15.  If the form is postmarked after June 15 the cost is $75 per adult and $20 per child.

Meals
Order evening meals in advance, as state laws prohibit us from taking meal payments on-site. Wednesday & Friday meals are on your own. Adult meals are $17, and children 10 and under can eat for $12. Prepayment for meals is refundable in case of cancellation prior to June 24.

T-Shirts
The popular Tee-Shirts bearing this year’s theme are available with your registration. Specify the quantity of each size of shirt desired. Shirt sizes S through XL are $18, while XXL and larger sizes are $22 or $25 each. Specified sizes will be honored only if ordered by June 24. Sorry, no childrens’ sizes will be available.

Reservations
Please indicate the number of seats in NSP’s Field School to reserve at $10 for an individual or $20 per family, and the number of children from your party aged 5 – 12 who will participate at no cost in Thursday’s Childrens’ Program. Mentors are also needed to assist the instructors of the Childrens’ Program in exchange for Community Service credit. Indicate if you have teenagers in 8th – 12th grade who would like to assist.

Liability Release
For insurance purposes, all NSP attendees must sign and date our liability release prior to returning the form.

Beginners Field School
One of NSP’s unique family-friendly features is our Beginners Field School consisting of three days (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) of two-hour classes during which attendees will learn the fundamentals of observing which can be put into practice on the observing field at night.  NSP’s Field School is $10 per attendee and $20 per family.  Materials (Field School Handbooks) are provided and serve as a guide through the Class.  Please indicate in the applicable section of the form the number of positions you’d like to reserve for interested members of your party.

State Park Entry Permit
All vehicles entering park property must display a Nebraska State Park Entry Permit. Nebraska residents pay $30 annually. Out-of-state residents pay $53.50. Annual permits are available for both out-of-state and in-state residents through NSP’s pre-registration process.

The Fine Print

Registration and Park Entry Permit fees are non-refundable. Payments for T-shirts and meals, however, are fully refundable prior to July1st. Mail payment prior to June 24 for pre-registration savings. Confirmation will be sent via email or post, along with detailed information to help you plan your trip to NSP.
